Client overview

The Client

Procom Plastics Extrusions Pty Ltd is a Melbourne-based manufacturer specialising in rigid, flexible and co-extruded plastic profiles as well as injection moulding. Operating from a purpose-built facility in Campbellfield, the business supplies industries including caravans, window and glazing, solar heating, security doors and flyscreens, agriculture, pipes and tubes, and building and construction.

The company already had a strong operational foundation, including an extensive product catalogue spanning 12 categories, custom profile extrusion capability, and a distributor programme. The redesign requirement was to bring that product depth and industry credibility forward online through a faster, more intuitive, and conversion-focused website experience.

The Challenge

Before the redesign, Procom Plastics had a WordPress website that had grown organically around the product catalogue. The homepage relied on a repeating content slider cycling through five slides, with duplicated content blocks that added unnecessary page weight. Navigation labels were unclear, and the site lacked defined user pathways for different audience types, such as caravan manufacturers, glazing companies, or potential distributors.

Performance was a critical issue. A PageSpeed Insights test returned a mobile performance score of just 65, with a Largest Contentful Paint of 24.1 seconds and a First Contentful Paint of 10.6 seconds. On desktop, the performance score was 85 with an LCP of 4.3 seconds. For a B2B manufacturing website where trade buyers research suppliers on mobile and desktop, these load times risked losing enquiries to faster competitors.

Because this was a web design project rather than a long-term SEO campaign, the core challenge was not only performance. It was product discoverability, brand perception, and enquiry generation: turning the site into an asset that supports both buyer confidence and lead quality across eight distinct industry verticals.

Problem Summary

  • The mobile performance score of 65 and a 24.1-second LCP meant the homepage was critically slow on mobile devices.
  • Multiple product and industry categories needed a stronger information architecture for easier browsing.
  • Contact and enquiry pathways needed more prominence to improve conversion opportunities.
  • The homepage slider duplicated content blocks across five slides, adding page weight without adding value.

The PMGS Strategy

PMGS approached the project as a full website redesign focused on three business outcomes: improve product discoverability, simplify the user journey across eight industry verticals, and increase enquiry intent. The strategy was built around helping users understand what Procom offers quickly, while making the path to contact or request a quote far more direct.

The homepage and site structure were redesigned to replace the five-slide repeating carousel with a single high-impact hero section and dedicated content blocks for industry solutions, product categories, and the distributor programme. Navigation was restructured around clearer labels, including Company Profile, Industries We Supply, Ecatalogue, and Contact Us.

The redesign also focused heavily on conversion architecture. PMGS supported stronger calls to action such as “Contact Us,” “Explore Ecatalogue,” and “Become a Distributor,” while the enquiry pathway was made more visible across key sections of the site.

Finally, the project combined visual redesign with technical optimisation. The current desktop PageSpeed Insights report for the live homepage shows the baseline performance metrics that the redesign aims to dramatically improve, particularly mobile LCP and overall performance scores.

Strategy Pillars

  1. 1. Homepage redesign and slider removal

The redesign replaced five repeating hero slides with a single optimised hero section and dedicated content blocks, eliminating duplicated DOM content and reducing initial page weight significantly.

  2. 2. Clearer information architecture

Key categories, including eight industry verticals and 12 product ranges, were presented more clearly with restructured navigation to improve findability for caravan, glazing, solar, construction, and other trade buyers.

  3. 3. Conversion-focused UX

Calls to action were made more visible across key sections, while the contact pathway and distributor application were strengthened with better placement and clearer visual hierarchy.

  4. 4. Product catalogue restructuring

The 12 product categories were reorganised into a cleaner grid layout with consistent imagery and clear category labels to support faster product discovery.

  5. 5. Technical performance uplift

Image compression, lazy loading, render-blocking script elimination, and CSS/JS payload reduction were implemented to improve Core Web Vitals across mobile and desktop.

The Results

The redesigned Procom Plastics website presents the business as a more modern, organised, and conversion-ready brand online. The combination of improved structure, clearer product navigation, visible trust signals, and technical performance optimisation gives Procom a significantly stronger digital foundation for lead generation across its eight industry verticals.
